Modern Slavery statement

The Brief

Diageo commissioned Altadicta to redesign and modernise its Modern Slavery Statement, with the goal of creating a report that not only met legal and regulatory requirements but also reflected the company’s authentic commitment to human rights, ethical business practices, and supply chain transparency.

The brief was to turn a compliance-driven document into a powerful narrative of responsibility and action — one that clearly demonstrated Diageo’s global leadership in tackling modern slavery risks while engaging diverse audiences, including employees, suppliers, investors, and advocacy groups.

Our Approach

Altadicta’s approach centred on clarity, humanity, and design storytelling. We began by analysing Diageo’s existing materials and stakeholder expectations to understand how best to convey the depth of its work in preventing modern slavery and supporting ethical sourcing practices.

We developed a strong editorial framework that shifted the tone from procedural reporting to purposeful storytelling — presenting Diageo’s actions through a mix of data-driven evidence, employee and partner stories, and clearly defined commitments. Each section was structured to build transparency and trust: outlining the issue, the action taken, and the measurable impact achieved.

Visually, we created a refreshed design system aligned with Diageo’s sustainability and ESG communications, using a clean layout, photography, and infographics to bring the content to life. We applied subtle colour coding and iconography to distinguish between focus areas such as supply chain due diligence, partnerships, training, and policy evolution.
