The Brief

Bupa wanted to shine a spotlight on employees around the world — from office teams to frontline staff — who were driving positive change within the business. The goal was to inspire more people to share their own ‘change-making’ ideas, all rooted in Bupa’s core values of Caring, Responsible, and Brave.

This formed part of Bupa’s wider ‘Changemakers’ campaign, an initiative designed to celebrate innovation and encourage a culture of continuous improvement. Employees were invited to put forward ideas — big or small — that could enhance how Bupa operates and delivers for its customers.

From suggesting a more sustainable stationery provider to proposing new AI models for improving customer experience, the campaign showcased how every action, no matter the scale, could contribute to meaningful change across the organisation..

Our Approach

We set out to give Bupa’s Changemakers the hero’s celebration they truly deserve — transforming their stories (and their faces) into a fun, nostalgic, and visually engaging comic strip series titled The Changemaker Chronicles. Using AI-assisted design and illustration, we brought to life short, vibrant tales that captured each employee’s unique act of positive change — celebrating everyday heroes in a bold, memorable way.

To ensure everyone across Bupa could experience the campaign, we designed for both print and digital formats. The printed comic strips were displayed in staff rooms and communal spaces, making them easily accessible to frontline employees, while the digital versions were embedded on Bupa’s internal platform, Workvivo, engaging office-based teams through interactive storytelling.

The result was a campaign that felt personal, playful, and proudly human — turning real employees into the heroes of Bupa’s ongoing story of change.
